ok i only have a description to go by here as it was not myself that saw it.

length overall about 2"
bottom 0.5" was a 'sting'
shaped very similar to a wasp
orange and black

any ideas please?
seen down at scrabster harbour area today.

at that size almost certainly a hornet - nasty wee blighters, they can give a nasty sting!

I thought hornets were black and yellow, correct me if I'm wrong:)

they are, but folks see and describe colours very differently. Can't think of anything else it could be.
