Hi
Your moth is Burnished Brass - if you go to www.caithnessmoths.org.uk/burnishedbrasspage.html (http://www.caithnessmoths.org.uk/burnishedbrasspage.html) you will find more information about its status in Caithness.
There are two distinct forms which may prove to be different species.

I caught 28 Burnished Brass last night so I have up dated the Burnished Brass page on the Moths of Caithness website by adding an extra photo so that both forms are now illustrated.
Visit www.caithnessmoths.org.uk/burnishedbrasspage.html (http://www.caithnessmoths.org.uk/burnishedbrasspage.html) for details.
