i always wonder why the Sea Shepherd crew don't use AIS on Whale Wars :confused

do whaling vessels not show up on the system ?

I would agree that marine traffic is the best. Used to use AIS, but Marine Traffic shows more ships and better details of them etc

AIS is the marine system used to identify vessels at sea. It is a transciever on board the ship that broadcasts the vessels info over VHF radio signals. This info is then picked up by the various recieving (VTS) stations around the country and collated into one place by websites like:-

Not quite - VTS stations do not feed the webpages you list.
