Hello all, just wondering who can establish the earliest Alexanders/Alshersons in Caithness. the earliest recorded entry I can find on the IGI is 1704 marriage between William Alsherson and Margaret Bruce.

this might explain why the Alexanders are not in Caithness before 1680

Hi. The best I hve is Donald Alexander (b) 1703 = Jean Smith had a son William Alexander (b) 1740 = Isabel Bain had 2 sons Donald Alexander (b) 1767 and William Alsherson (b) 1769.
This continues down the line to my G Grandfather James Coghill who married Isabella Alexander/Alsherson.

I have three other children for Donald and Jean
Donald 1730
Alexander 1746
Isobel 1755

Donald parent were possibly William Alsheron c 1678 and Margaret c 1680

Does anyone have any idea who the parents were of Agnes (Ann) Alchersone b. circa 1715, married Donald Farquhar 8 July 1736?

Actually, I have a marriage record that shows that her father's name was James. Can anyone give me the name of her mother, his wife? I would appreciate any assistance!!

Mamie, I am descended from the Alexander Alsherson, b1746 you mention in your post. I have come across information about his parents in several locations, but have not been able to verify it. Can I ask if you have been able to find a primary source for this information? It would be great if you have!

Actually, her father's name was William. Her Husband's was James. So sorry.

Alcherson bapd & named Aganes Wits. William Swanson and John Bremner."

No, Tricia. His wife was Janet Swanson. I am descended from their son John, b 1782. Parentage is confirmed on John's death certificate.
