This may have been already raised... and I do apologise if it has.

Watch out for this - it is a Trojan and a nasty one at that! It is a very convincing fake and I got hit - despite my AV, anti-spam and firewall. Goodness knows how! The give-away was the request for payment - Ah ha! I thought - nothing wrong with my hard drive, just a virus. However, despite all efforts I still am PC-less and will have to get the school techies to slave my hard drive to recover the data and then wipe the drive clean, so they can rebuild it. Be warned!

Many thanks Ricco but a tad more info be appreciated by all I guess.

I realise as u said you are PC-less but........?

Assume the request for payment should be avoided???

download to a penstick using another PC the following:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/combofix
blue links in the middle

or
malwarebytes.

pers i'd use combofix.

turn off the infected machine

connect it to your route via an ethernet cable [hard wire it to the internet - do not use wireless]

start the PC and keep hitting F8 key [boot to safemode] until you get to the screen that gives you the windows boot options list

select safemode with networking

when to loading is complete
log in with a user that has admin rights.
once windows loading is finished

put in the penstick and run combofix from it.

click through the anti virus errors [ UNLESS YOU HAVE AVG LOADED.. if you do you will have to right click its bottom right icon and disable it] any other anti-virus is ok to ignore the warning and click through

then just let combofix do its work.

if you need help or want me to do it remotely send me a PM
