Internet speed

I'm with TalkTalk, on an up to 8mb/s plan, and I used to get around 2.2mb/s downlaod speed as tested on speedtest.net (http://speedtest.net). In the past couple of weeks, that has slowed right down so I'm getting somewhere between 0.2 and 0.5 mb/s. Should I contact the ISP? Is it possible that my cheap router is to blame? Is there any way I can improve the speed?

i doubt the 'cheap' router has nowt to do with
there is maint work ongoing

how about a restart of the router and checking no-one has plugged anything into a phone outlet without a filter fitted?

I'm with talk talk as well my speed has dropped from around 3mb to .12mb. I phoned them they said they wont be charging me for broadband at this time but i have to wait 48hrs before i complain again.

We are on the Lyth exchange (BT Broadband) and have gone from 1700kbps to 240kbps, slower than our upload speed of 360kpbs. Is anyone else on this exchange having similar problems?
