I know that last time this appeared a few people were upset. I intend to make no comment but I thought those people who were interested in it may want an update

That link worked fine for me but the main thing in it is that the Ambulance Driver claims that he never was told about or received a request to attend a 999 Call.

Here is the link again so you can read the artilce for yourself :-

It worked this time, there is quite a bit of conflicting statements, I wonder what is the truth and who is saving face no doubt some one knows.

He told the Press and Journal he was never asked nor instructed to attend a 999 call.

The SAS maintained yesterday that Mr McLauchlan, who was based in the village, “chose” not to attend the emergency.

SAS chief executive Pauline Howie said yesterday that Mr McLauchlan would never work in the area again. She also said: “We have assured ourselves that he’s shown regret and has been able to assure us with the compassion that he’s been able to display.”

And the words of Tomintoul ambulance driver Shirley Keith who stated that when she phoned her station and spoke to the technician “His exact words were ‘Shirley, you’re not going to like what I’m about to say. They shouted me on my break and I refused to go’”.

So still no nearer to who's telling porkies.. boils down to a stupid SAS/Union agreement, that obviously does not work. (South of the Border, the controversial rules have been highlighted as a factor in at least three deaths - including a 13-year-old boy in County Durham who was choking to death on a pen top while an ambulance crew remained oblivious to his plight just three miles away. Another vehicle had to travel ten miles.)

Sure they need breaks, well, actually in fact about half of Scotland's ambulance workers have so far taken up the offer to forgo them, and accept a £250 annual payment to opt out and remain on call at all times. They get an additional £5 each time they are interrupted during a break. So this undisturbed meal break can't be all that sacrosanct can it?

The Scottish Executive have instigated a report, might get the 'facts' then..
