I am researching a Polish family who lived in Thurso in the late 1920s, early 1930s. They may have used a name like Niklewski, and may have been involved with aviation. A son, Francis Joseph, known as Joe may have gone to school in Thurso. Does anyone know where I might find school enrolment lists for Thurso Primary for that period? Or any other records? Most grateful for any help at all.

Hi,

School records are closed for a period of 100 years if I remember correctly - so I'm afraid you won't be able to consult those for information.

The best option would be to look through the Valuation Rolls - these records are held by the North Highland Archive in Wick. These records would be searchable for the period you are interested in, and if they were living in the area and renting property they would be found in the records.

Regards,
Steven
