Gameweek 6 in the Wick & District Pool League saw the top 2 teams battle it out as Blackstairs1 hosted Bayview1.
As expected the match was closely fought, and after all of the singles games had been played it stood at 3-3.
The next 4 frames were shared, taking the match to 5-5. Now it was a matter of who could hold their nerves in a vital deciding frame.
In a tense frame, it was Bayviews Johnny Mackay who showed nerves of steel by doubling an outstanding yellow to set himself up perfectly on the black. With that 6-5 victory, Bayview1 are still unbeaten and sit top of division 1.
In the other matches in division 1, Camps2 won the derby beating Camps1 7-4. Sinclair Bay beat Crown1 by the same scoreline. And The Francis Street Club had an impressive 9-2 victory over Blackstars2.
In the 2nd Division, The Seaforth Club look unstoppable. Greg Beveridge, Gary Macalpine, Dale Johnston, and David Malcolm won all of their games, and then Craig Durrand and Kevin Beales rounded it off with a fantastic granny in their doubles match to defeat Mountain Dew2 9-2. The Seaforth Club sit top of division 2 still undefeated and are hot favorites to gain promotion in their debut season.
The other matches in division 2 saw Sasa's Cellar Bar get their first win of the season, beating Bayview2. And Queens 2 won 7-4 away to the Crown2.
