Below is the email I received from a friend of mine relating to parcelforce and how they are dealing with the mail in ADVERSE WEATHER. From the tone of it you would think SCotland IS an island all by itself .....

The post code PDF that I havent been able to attach covers ABERDEEN, EDINBURGH, PERTH and GLASGOW.

Important Information
Adverse Weather Update
Dear customer, Due to the continued thaw and the incredible effort by our drivers in all depots over the weekend, we have been able to deliver most parcels affected by the bad weather over the last two weeks. There are still some delays in the areas affected by the worst weather, namely in Scotland, North East England and South East London, as detailed is in the attachment (PDF 45KB).

Whilst we haven’t been able to accept orders since the latter part of last week for the majority of Scottish postcodes, we will start accepting orders again for delivery into Scotland from Tuesday 14th December. However, in order for us to be able to deliver these parcels by Christmas, we will not be able to take any more orders after Friday 17th December - this will be the last despatch date for deliveries into Scotland before Christmas.

Please find details of the Scottish postcodes (PDF, 35KB) (http://communicatoremail.com/In/9887071/0/8EgDpGN8Zsr4M-hIuXUxY-HdXOpNeB8EEaf10z7pRsR/) which you will not be able to despatch to from Monday 20th December. We will review this later in the week when we have a better view of the anticipated weather conditions.

We remain committed to continuing to deliver our normal high levels of service and would like to thank all our customers for their patience and understanding whilst we have been clearing the inevitable delays.

Yours sincerely,

Martin Lomas

After reading your post and the following link i am glad that i was organised earlier this year . I do have one item thats important thats due to be dispatched this week and am hoping that it wont be delayed too much especially as its due to snow again Wed/Thurs :( So far most of my parcels have taken 4-8 days longer than expected but the delivery guys are all doing a fantastic job , many working late to try and ensure that we all get our parcels so well done to them all :)

"incredible effort by our drivers"? Watched a programme the other night about a remote place in eastern Russia where the kids have to go to school if its -50. -51 and its the day off.

I don't see any problem with that email.

Well done to parcelforce for providing such a clear and informative update instead of the usual "we are experiencing problems - expect delays".

The snow caused major problems to the transport network, especially in Scotland, and the backlog in the parcel and mail services must be huge, especially this close to christmas.

I agree with Theone - my wife is going bonkers because she's expecting parcels she ordered in November and does not want grandkids to miss their presents. I think there's delays all over the place.
