In the John O' Groat Journal of the above date I read

The rare bird The Glaucous was seen at Toftcarle, Watten...

has it been seen since I wonder ?

Hi Trinkie,

Glaucous Gull is a scarce winter visitor and passage migrant in Caithness. There are also some summer records but they are rarer at that time of year. It is seen somewhere in the county most years.

Here's one at Scrabster in 2009

Thank you, I'm glad to know they are still around. Such an elegant little bird.
It must have been something special to have it mentioned in the Groat at the time !
