Ex Conservative Deputy chairman Howard Flight (Who) was forced to make a grovelling apology today over his remarks that child benefit changes would encourage the poor to "breed". Story (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11837538)

He has, however, retained the right to take his seat in that cesspit of democracy the "House Of Lords".
Just what does an MP/Peer have to do nowadays before they get sacked.

It seems that hardly a week goes by without a MP/Peer has to make an apology of some description.

Get it right Anfield, his actual words were:.

“We're going to have a system where the middle classes are discouraged from breeding because it's jolly expensive, but for those on benefit there is every incentive,” he said.

I'd say that's a fair comment.

I would discourage the "upper classes" from breeding, then we would not have to fork out every time one of them wants to get married

I actually think he's correct in what he's saying, even if I don't necessarily agree with the implications of it.

The upper working class and middle classes aren't producing as many kids as the lower working class and those who don't work at all.

There's lots of couples nowadays who chose not to have kids, or to limit their kids, for career and/or financial reasons. That is not so much the case for those who do not work.

That's a fact. He's only pointed out a fact.

Whether or not it's an issue, or something that needs addressed, is another matter.

You might be right:

Liverpool in top three of benefit claimants
LIVERPOOL has the third highest number of people in the country on long-term incapacity benefit.
A total of 1.62% of the population are in receipt of the benefit, a figure only exceeded by Glasgow (2.29%), and Birmingham (2.02%).
The figures were revealed in a parliamentary answer to Liberal Democrat work and pensions spokesman David Laws.
Wirral is 11th in the table, Sefton is at 26, Knowsley at 37, and St Helens at 45. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-133701290.html (http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-133701290.html)

Walter Waffle tries a funny and gets it hopelessly wrong.
Shell suits? what century are you living in?
Liverpool is accepted as one of the fashion centres of the UK. Have you not heard of Liverpool 1 (http://www.liverpool-one.com/website/store-directory.aspx). Metquarter (http://www.metquarter.com/) Cavern Walks (http://cavern-walks.co.uk/news?page=1) to name just three of its shopping centres

Your point is?
Do you not have up to date figures as this article was published in 2005.
Also, David Laws, was he not the MP who had to resign over fiddling £40,000 expenses.
