postal scam

This might have been reported before but it should be again just in case anyone missed it !!. What I do not understand is why BT cannot do something !!! disconnection would be the obvious.

Postal Scam:

Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

It's not just through the post either, They also send e-mails with the same thing.

If you actually read the article on the CrimeStoppers website you will see that this scam was stopped in 2005.

Price seems to go up each year.
Started off at 1.50 per minute before this was CLOSED DOWN in 2005 and the firm fined 20 grand.
Then these hoax emails reappeared in 2006 at £ 15 per call.
Now at 315, which I believe is impossible under premium rate rules.

On the other hand, treat all such things with suspicion.
