View Full Version : Oil heating
I am asking for a friend, is it very expensive to change a closed in coal fire with radiators to oil central heating? There is no gas in the area. Would appreciate comments from NYONE WHO HAS DONE THIS, TRANSFER FROM COAL TO OIL.
Generally you are looking at a full system install. Even if the pipework could change straight over to oil (which is not always the case) you still need to install oil boiler, Oil tank and electrics associated with automatic central heating.
you are prob looking at between £2000-£4000 . depends on what you want:D

Have you checked to see if you meet criteria fort the governments Energy Assistance Package? If you dont and you live in an area covered by the Home Insulation Scheme, you may be able to apply for an interest free loan from the Energy Savings Trust. I know Thurso is part of the scheme so worth checking.
