haha we've already topped 50mph winds this autumn a couple of times and there is the possibility of this again tomorrow night/monday early hours which has probably already been picked up on the general forecasts used, then it is looking interesting again on friday - this is a long way away at the moment and can change drastically but i'll keep an eye on it, the two pics below are for sunday midnight and friday noon

also at these low pressures expect some higher tides than usual if you have a boat moored somewhere.

Awww...I thought this was going to be a thread about fitting motorbike engines to wheelie bins and seeing who could achieve the fastest time from Latheron to Thurso...

Was already scheming a Hayabusa powered bin when the thread opened up...

Oh well, never mind...

As usual Ye olde Scrabster Weather Witch is spot on with her mystical predictions. We came out of the restaurant last night and had to run to the cars,it had changed that quick. Cheers Paula.;)

Yup, a tad breezy on Sinclair Bay:eek:

Attempted to take Missy the lunatic lurcher for a walk about 20 minutes ago, got about 50 yards and the dog just sat down and refused to go any further.

The dogs' obviously smarter than me.:Razz

I'll 2nd that, I couldn't get my door closed last night for the force of the wind and by 01:30 I had to get up and move to my daughters bedroom for fear that my window was going to blow out and land on me!......[lol]

Kids slept in my room last night due to the howling noise coming from our windows last night.

It was deafening and not what I expected from a new build. :(

Must go and check the windows now to see if they are keeping the water out.

Last night my lurcher lad and lass refused point blank to step over the door step as the wind and rain battered down. This rickity old house has been rockin' and rollin'....seems slighty less windy this morning....at least doggies went out for their basics, though refused to go for a walk!!

Same thing in my house funnily enough![lol]
I had to leave my bedroom due to it getting so cold, the wind was blowing in one window and back out the other - and that's them closed!!

I must get some bungee cords for the wheelie bin lids...they were clattering some last night.
Havent ventured far enough in the garden to see if the compost bins are still where they should be, but, the bird table is now sleeping:D
Is it going to get worse or is this as bad as it will get?

lol no problem, and you're not a fool at all, you just haven't been taught yet ;)

i know it's small but pick out in the UK where you are situated. next look at the white line either side of your location. if the lines are close together then it's going to be windy, the closer the lines the windier it's going to be :)

does that help a little?

ah now it makes sense!!
kinda got the pressure thing but didnt know it told about the wind.

and i'm really quite amazed that my greenhouse roof didn't do a good impression of dorothy's farm house last night

hopefully this will ease by school time but looks like it will be back tomorrow

Shocking morning! Tugmistress, please tell us it will be over soon..... I had to stop car and move a wheelie bin from the middle of the road, it was a very full, very heavy bin, amazed how the wind moved it cos I hardly could! :confused

It's easing off at the moment, not sure how it will go later today - we may be lucky and get away with it but further south will get a battering and so will the west coast.
The wind will back through easterly and go northerly over the weekend so although not great wind speeds it will be bitter to the bone :(

A favourite saying of mine........
"Enjoy and make the most of the weather that comes because you cant do anything to alter or change it"

I enjoy everyday, whatever the weather!!
