Weir/Gunn

I have recently discovered that my Grandmother came from Castletown. She was named Isabella(Ella) Dunnet Weir and was he daughter of James Sinclair Weir who later became Firechief of Dundee. James was himself the son of another James Weir and Margaret Gunn. I think that James Sinclair Weir was born around 1868 and probably died in 1937. He married several times according to family legend, his last wife, married in Dundee being Lizzie Graham Whitton. I would be grateful if anyone could help me to find out a little more about this family or where I might look for information about them. I noticed that there was a discussion of a Weir family allied with Meiklejohn and Cormack which ended in 2007. Was James Sinclair Weir's family allied to this family or perhaps another completely seperate from them ?
