Is it just me or are the sunflowers later than usual this year? :confused

I try and plant a few each year and mine got a better start than usual this time because I now have a greenhouse, but they seem to be about a month behind the ones I planted last year.

I was a bit late planting out my sunflowers and they only started flowering two weeks ago. Also tomatos in the g/house still mainly green. I think the harsh winter made me late for everything but the plants never 'caught up' like they usually do.

I've got four in flower and twelve in total not planted a single one!
Why don't the birds eat the seeds and not toss them over their backs?

Mine are all out in flower now.:Razz

My hanging baskets are still going strong as well, but I do put them in the greenhouse if we get a very windy period. I would say that's about five weeks behind what the life expectancy of the same plants , when I lived in the Midlands.

I think everything is late this year. My budlea only started flowering a few weeks ago, and my friend in the midlands who gave me the plants said hers had finished by mid September!
