McAfee not working

I have a PC running Windows XP. I have been using McAfee Security software. Yesterday I think I unintentionally downloaded something called My Security Shield. It appears to be blocking McAfee. It keeps flashing up messages telling me that I have all sorts of malware and I must subscribe to My Security Shield to get rid of them. I managed to get McAfee to scan my files and it finds no problems. How do I get rid of My Security Shield?
