Seabird
20-Sep-10, 19:59
This Striped Dolphin was found early Wednesday morning (15th) on the beach in the Thurso area.
The Striped Dolphin is very much a Summer visitor and is rarely seen from land because it likes the deeper off shore water.
It's not the first to wash up on the North coast of Caithness but rarely are they found in such good condition.
This dolphin was picked up by Scottish Agricultral College (SAC) for further examination.
My thanks to Dr Jason Mcilvenny for the initial report and Astrid Harendza who took the picture both work for the Environmental research Institute (ERI).
