Photographs taken today at Caithness Horizons when Mike Travis of Caithness Solutions presented a generous Cheque for £1000, to Pat Kieran MBE, Chairman of the Caithness Branch of The British Science association. The donation was to allow the branch to supply a basic Garden Weather Station to every Primary and Special Needs School in the County, and also to allow the purchase and installation of a 5th Caithness Professional Weather Station to be purchased and installed in Halkirk, the first one in the County to be inland, the others all being coastal. This is part of The Great Caithness Weather Event, which is launched on September 30th with a series of presentations at Wick Assembly Rooms from 1.30 - 4.30, and at Caithness Horizons from 6.30 - 9.30 pm. The study will then continue, involving both the Schools and the general public for a minimum of 12 months and hopefully much longer
