View Full Version : Did you know................
Juneau, the state capital of Alaska, lies at 59° north – the same latitude as Thurso.
Thurso has been voted Scotland’s town of the year 14 times.
Because I didnt.

I was there a couple of years ago. Quite a nice wee town. Unlike Thurso, you can't drive there. Boat or plane only. Well you can drive there from the outlying villages, but the road only goes ten or twelve miles up or down the coast in either direction. Quite a few of the Alaska towns are like that. We found a grand wee pub to spend the afternoon, just down the street from the Red Dog Saloon, which is also a pub but a total tourist trap. That was after taking a bus tour which included a walk by the Mendenhall glacier, and a close encounter with a bear.

Let me be the first to accuse you of a terrible groaner.
D'you know what I mean.
Too much latitude is being shown here.
Do you pronounce Juneau the same as Do you know? If you do, I may or may not have made a joke without knowing it. I didnt know that.

No.
Neither does she, I think, but Alaska.
Did she give you the answer freely, or Jamaica?
