It's getting a bit late for planting seeds that will have a chance to germinate and survive the winter in these parts. (most will need planting between May and July) however, you might find someone that has some established plants that are ready to plant out.

I use this site quite a lot as the technical information they give on the different varieties can be very useful.

i have just planted some spring cabage and will see how they get on. it's my first year up here so just trying things out at the moment

Try http://www.gardenaction.co.uk They have a veg planner that you can customise to your area! Tells you when to plant and when to harvest etc.
