View Full Version : caithness hospice
looking at the front page of the Groat today, and the possible closure of palliative care beds at Dunbar and CGH, begs the question, why has highland Hospice not got a facility in Caithness?

The highland hospice is part NHS and part funded and has 10 beds for the whole of the highlands. Cost I would imagine would prevent more beds being available for the whole of highland region never mind that of Caithness. It costs millions to run the hospice and they have to fund raise constantly to keep the beds that they have.
At the end of the day it comes down to money.

The hospice has beds in both Wick at Town and county and in thurso at dunbar Hospital, these will not be cut.
