Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me in my search for my McBeath relatives. I have posted here before, but now have some more information.
My Gt. Grandmother was Janet McBeath b.1874 in Wick.
Her parents were James McBeath b.1847 & Mary (MacKay) b.1840. They were married 28/1/1870 at Westerdale, Halkirk and had 4 other children besides Janet - Elizabeth b.1870; Catherine b.1872; Wilhelmina b.1876 and William b.1879.
Mary died in 1881 and James went on to marry Rachael Sim (year unknown) and have a further 4 children - James b.1885; John b.1887; Adam b.1888 & Rachael b.1890.
In the 1901 Census James, Rachael, Wilhelmina, John, Adam & Rachael were living in Inverness.
Janet's Grandparents were William McBeath b.1821 & Janet (Sutherland) b.1821. They were married 20/2/1846 in Latheron and had 8 children incl. James - Elizabeth b.1848; John b.1851; Mary b.1853; Robert b.1855; Anne b.1858; Isabella b.1859 & Adam b.1863.
I have found William and his family in the 1851/61/71 Census & James, Mary & Elizabeth in the 1871 Census.
I would love to know more about these people; did William have any siblings? what year were his father (James McBeath) and mother (Mary Sutherland) born? where did they live? and generally find out what life was like for them back then?
If anybody has any information, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem, on any of the above people, I would love to hear from you :)
