does anyone else grow peaches in caithness,
my mum has a peach tree in her greenhouse for the last 20 odd years, and thanks to her green fingers she always has a bumper crop of between 100 to 200 peaches, but she never picks them just waits until they naturally drop off (slings a net under them to catch the fruit), the worst is they all ripen in the same two/three weeks so then she becomes inundated with fruit. so wherever she goes guaranteed that she'll be handing out fruit.
what i love about these peaches is that the skin is so furry but they peel really easily (think of a banana) and they are huge.

Linda Wilson has had peaches for a good few years in her polytunnel at Torrisdale, Skerray near Bettyhill.
Well worth a visit if you are in the area and she works an honesty box and you can pick your own.
Sweetcorn was fab last year.
