Grey Dagger is a widely if thinly distributed moth in Caithness which is more often than not identified by gardeners from is very distinctive caterpillar. The flight season is quite long, from mid-May to August, it having overwintered as pupa in a silk cocoon. The larvae feed on a wide range of broadleaved trees and shrubs.
