just out of curiosity.. as we were talking about flowers and how pretty poppies are.. is it legal in the UK to grow them in your garden as just a flower? no plans for opium here.. just thinking about pretty flowers..
thanks!

I'd grow the poppies - quite legal.

Most things in the garden can be eaten, are poisonous, or can used as drugs in some form or other.

Beware of where you put them. Once they start getting their seed in the ground you will have them for years!!

I always thought that the 'naughty' poppies (P. somniferum?) were a different type than the regular flowers like wot folk grow in their gardens (P. orientale?). Might just be making that up though, (or might've been told it by someone who thought I might get into mischief ). Are the poppy seeds that are used for cooking (bread and such) just from regular garden type flowers?
