View Full Version : Caithness woman in charity row around Great Britain
Caithness born Beverley Ashton, (nee Ross), is one of 4 ordinary women more than half way through a charity row around Great Britain. If they succeed they will be the first women to row around Great Britain, non stop, unaided, in a 24ft rowing boat. The charity they are supporting is "Help the Heroes" . The challenge has been tough, sometimes rowing in terrible weather conditions. They are currently off the coast of Mull and will row around the coast of Caithness, hopefully, in the next few days. You can follow their progress on www.gbrowchallenge.com (http://www.gbrowchallenge.com) or www.seagals.co.uk (http://www.seagals.co.uk) . Please support them and look out for them passing through!

Good on them. I hope they get a good tide through the Pentland Firth. :)
I will look out for them using Ship Plotter (http://www.shipais.com/currentmap.php?map=Orkney) but think they will be to small to spot.
Good luck to them and the charity they are supporting.

Lol . . . I opened up the thread thinking someone local was caught up in a national stooshie about a charity.
Good luck to her

This is a huge challenge, I don't think the local papers have been given the info., they have been reported about on Countryfile and they have been given very little media coverage in Caithness. I think they row in a rota, with 2 people rowing for 2 hours, whilst the other 2 sleep for 2 hours!! So, very disturbed sleep patterns along with hard work! I read somewhere that they could expect to lose around half of their body weight during this challenge! Brave Girls and all for charity!!
Good on them. I hope they get a good tide through the Pentland Firth. :)
I'm sure they will appreciate that! :)
Grt challenge I for one will be following them and supporting them

great photos!
Wow, good on them! What a great challenge!
After having met Julie Angus, the first woman who crossed the Atlantic in a row boat I have the greatest respect for girls doing daring things like that!
Fantastic effort and a good blog to keep up with!
The girls have completed their row around Britain

They are all amazing! The first women to row around Britain unaided, a record! What a tough time they've had, with the weather being against them most of the way. They will be glad to get some pampering now!
Big Congrats to the girls for getting all the way round...... Fantastic job girls xxx
