On first viewing Brown Rustic is just a drab brown moth, but there subtle patterns on the wings and the pale spots along the leading edge are distinctive. This is a male with feathered antennae. Found mainly in broadleaved woodland the adult flies in June and July having over wintered as an almost fully grown larva. Probably locally distributed in Caithness.
