In recent years Streamer has only been recorded from Reay and Berriedale but it was once thought to be more widespread, if local, in the County. A mainly broadleaved woodland species, the adult flies in April and May having over wintered as a pupa in a cocoon in loose earth. The larvae feed on dog-rose and other wild roses.
