View Full Version : Weed identification

One of our neighbours' gardens has been taken over by a weed which looks suspiciously like weeds now appearing in our garden. Pictures are posted below. I was wondering if anyone could please help identify what these are, and if they are nasty weeds, how best to get rid of them.

Photos show two separate plants - one in flower, and one without. I realise they may not be the same though the leaves do look very similar.

Many thanks

celandine, spreads like wildfire, little bulblets seem to appear everywhere

Scunner

- thanks for that. Nasty by the sound of it. Will dig it all up and bin it.

Bees love them, so I leave them in some places, but they are a real pest on the lawn. every litte bulb takes root

You're right Scunner they are like a plague. NEVER take cuttings out of a garden that has this as you will just import it to your garden and you'll never get rid of it. It seems to flourish particularly well in shaded areas and sometimes it's better to just let it grow than stress about it as you will never weed it out successfully.

It's celandine, and it gets everywhere, really nice through a wooded area but not in a lawn or flower bed - good luck
