Guitar Technical Help

Hello, hope someone can help me. Just took my guitar out its case for a jam and note that the strings appear to be very tight, I have tried loosing them by the tuning knobs but when playing they still wont give much budge.

I hope I've explained the problem enough for someone to know what im on about.

The strings dont change sound depending on fret it just stays the same.
