View Full Version : Big white thing on Dunnett beach?
Does anyone know what it is? :confused
More detail? Is it washed up, is it dead, was it an animal, is it a shipwreck, how big is it. I was there today on the Castletown side and didn't see anything. :confused

Could be David Cameron....
It's there just now, it's something washed up near the Dunnett end of the beach. It's about 30 feet long. The coastguards were there earlier but gone now.
What does it smell like? [lol]

Just back from Dunnet Beach, everybody and their dog was wondering what the white 'lump' was at the Dunnet end of the beach. Went and had a deek, first hint was the smell so had to go 'upwind', it was rank. I thought it was an inside out whale shark, well that was what it looked like to me, going by the ridge at the tail end as that was the only part recognisable. But heck i'm no whale biologist. Not for the squemish i'm afraid!

Loving that idea:)
It was on the radio this morning, Its a whale that has been washed up in high tides.
As it is so badly decomposed its hard to tell what kind of whale it is,it may not even be one that is native to our waters, they can drift of hundreds if not thousands of miles! Best advice though is to steer clear of it,there will be a lot of bacteria and nasties floating around-certainly not something what you want the dog to take a bite out off x

Aye. Bloody typical.
I go on the beach for a nice quiet swim and get harassed by the Heilan' Cooncils henchmen and dragged off the beach.:(
