David Henderson b. 25 Jan 1796 Halkirk married Christina Oman 9 July 1818. Died 20 Feb. 1860 Westerdale, Thurso

Janet Henderson b. 1818 d. 24 July 1873 at Westerdale. On her death certificate she was Age 52

Christina Oman b. 1795 Ormby, Caithness daughter of William Oman and Ann Manson

Parents were John Henderson and Margaret Sinclair married 13th Dec 1788 in Halkirk.

Brothers and sisters were:

Sorry Fred I don't think you have the right Hendersons.

My husband's gt gt grandfather was William born in 1822. He was a brother of Janet born 1818.
David Henderson was born 17 May 1791 at Thurso, married Christian or Christina Oman at Thurso on 9 July 1818 and died at Bank Street, Thurso on 28 June 1867. I presume Christina was still alive then as the wording on the death certificate was David Henderson, married to Christina Oman.

David's parents were named as James Henderson and Janet Sutherland on his death certificate, but I suspect his mother may have been Isobel rather than Janet.
I am certain of these details as they have been followed through from certificates, grave stone inscriptions and Scotland's People all they way from my father in law.

If the David Henderson who married Christina Oman was born 17 May 1791 in Thurso then it is the wrong David Henderson, ohoc asked about a David Henderson born 25th Jan 1796 in Halkirk.

Janet Henderson married William Georgeson 20 Dec. 1839

One of there sons was Sinclair George (aka George Sinclair) b. 1851 Halkirk or Wick. Sinclair George is my Gt. Grandfather

Hello I found your posting interesting- I am searching for parents of William Henderson of Halkirk who married Isobell Jack in 1784- they had two sons, Donald and John who emigrated to Canada c 1817- I'm wondering if there is any connection with your David-

but my Henderson family begins with John Henderson and Margaret Grant.
(his parents John Henderson and Isabella Sinclair - to be checked !)
John was the Blacksmith at Spittal .

the children of John Henderson and Margaret Grant are :

Margaret Grant died and John later married Helen Miller.

By reading through all the pages I came upon this thread which refers to my 3x great grandparents and fills in several gaps for me. Thanks to all who contributed this info - can anyone add any more?

My 2x great grandfather was Donald Henderson, married to Mary Mackay from Farr, Sutherland. They had 9 children - David Henderson their son being my great grandfather. David Henderson married Mary Sutherland and they had 6 children - my grandfather being the third. He married Elizabeth Houston Campbell in 1923 and they had 3 children, my Mum, my late aunt and my uncle!

Anyone wants any more info then pm me - might take a while to reply as holidays are looming.

William was my great-grandfather. I have no information re his date of birth. only that he was the son of James OMAN and Margaret NICOLSON. (or Nicholson) WILLIAM OMAN married Margaret BAIN , daughter of Samuel Bain and Christina MacKay, on May 22, 1874 at Kilmster. They had 14 children, and CHRISTINA OMAN was my grandmother.

My sister and I have searched but unfortunately the records are either vague, or non-existent.

I loved reading about everyone's "tree." If there are any further links to my information I'd appreciate hearing about them.
