I’m not a great fan of TV advertising; there’s always too many of them interrupting the programmes. This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMtyOCoqHTk) however struck a chord and today I find it’s being raved about! What do you think?

Ugh .. Pass the Bucket.

Its just another sign of the advertising industry and its gag inducing worship of women as some kind of saintly figures. It seems to be OK these days to ridicule men at every opportunity but anything short of worshipping women as godlike is seen as sexist.

The advert is supposed to make us aspire to a middle class, perfect life which doesn't exist. That said, they do a great online service and the electrical goods are very competitively priced and come with an extended guarantee (I think)

No, it's a cynical attempt to tell you that you're going to die soon, so you should be spending all your cash in John Lewis. I feel more emotional staring at the empty contents of a chocolate digestive biscuit wrapper than watching this smug, derisive piece of commercial advertising. I assume those who do feel teary-eyed are indeed middle-class, and, probably, regular visitors to John Lewis. They can have it.

Edit - in fact there are a few good government ads at the moment (not that I can remember them right now grrrr) and one of my particular faves is the holiday insurance one
