WMA music files

I'm trying to create a CD from a WMA file on the laptop, but although it burns OK onto a CD-R it won't play on my CD player - can anyone help?

Are you simply dragging the WMA file onto a blank CD? If so then all you're doing is writing data as far as the CD player is concerned, not music. Windows Media Player (amongst others) allows you to burn WMA (and other music MP3, etc.) files as music, rather than data so you should use something like it instead.
