Lauren likes pink!
And likes baking pink things.... fairy cakes with pink icing and pink meringues... she wanted pink pancakes but I drew the line at that!

Just how do I make a batenburg cake with the yellow and pink squares?
And I could do with a recipe as well as instructions:lol:

How big a Battenburg?

Take four ounces of Margerine (Flora)
Four ounces of Sugar,
Four ounces of self raising flour,
2 large eggs,
Pink food colouring.

Beat your marg and sugar till white and fluffy,
add a little egg, a little flour beating well and repeat the process,

Take half your mixture and add pink food colouring.

Leave the other half natural,

Bake each in seperate tins, 15-20 mins.

Remove from oven and allow to cool,

Melt some seedless jam, and spread over cakes, cut cakes into fingers and glue together one pink, one white, pink, white etc, with remaining jam,

Thinly roll some marzipan, and wrap the cake inside,
dust with sugar,

Ok its just a basic victoria sponge!
Thought it was more like a maderia cake as the shop bought ones are a bit denser and drier than a sponge cake!
