good shots kara, i read about it on the front page and thought about a drive through for some pics, looks very close to collapse, maybe the normal tidal flow will send it off if they don't get it shored up tonight!

they were working a digger in the river maybe going to see if the can support the wall b4 it might collapse,??

will be interesting to see what they've done tomorrow - hopefully it'll be propped up nicely and the tidal movement wont wipe it all out.
any chance of updates by pictures tomorrow?

i choost went cross 'e rod an hed a wee deek (in ma jammys)

'e boys wid do ye proud, workin awie, what a noise tho!! i louped oot ma bied thinkin a buildin hed fallen doon or somethin....wis choost hopin it wisna ma new hoose!!

e guys are makin a damn or somethin so they can get thur deeger til 'e ither side, where 'e wall is bulgin oot. hope 'e tide is on their side...but i dina think so!

yes it's a shame it collapsed but looking at how far it had already gone it is no surprise. It'll be an interesting job restoring that one!

Great photos and really interesting to see the foundations of the road after the wall has fallen away.

Be interesting to see how the wall is built up again and how they make it structurally sound joining the existing wall.

according to some records
the old harbour walls were replaced in around 1870, the stone being used to build many houses around the town.

i choost went til hev a wee deek an wis speakin til one o' 'e manies....he says its a beeg chob, probly take a few days or more. he says they hev til build 'e beach bit back up.

at'l be 'e tide on its way back in tho so they'l lekly hev til stop for a while soon.
as soon as it comes in tho, it'l go straight back oot again an they'l hev half an oer before it starts coming back in again.....ats what we call 'still waters'.

i think 'ats rite anyway, correct me if am wrong as am really interested
