Thread: RAF Wick 144 Squadron

    Default RAF Wick 144 Squadron

    'Wings Over Wick'

In the 'Wings Over Wick' section of this website there's a wonderful account by Mr F S Holly, Deganwy, Gwynedd, of his time spent with 144 Squadron at RAF Wick. This was from October 1943 until May 1944.

I'm currently researching two airmen who served at Wick in the same squadron around the same time.

They are Flying Officer Allan and Fl/Lt Banks - both were tragically lost in an accident at RAF Sumburgh on the 26th of April 1944.

I'd be very grateful for any information about these two airmen and the circumstances surrounding the accident which claimed their lives and that of a civilian worker.

    Many thanks

Many thanks Wizzbang, that's a remarkable story. Wonderful to see that this airman and his exploits won't be forgotten.
