    Question stirkoke

Hi i am looking for the family of William Grant. He was farming at Greystones Stirkoke in the 1861 and 1871 census but after that the entire family disappeared. He was born on the Black Isle and his wife was born in Watten.
I think there were seven children.

    Hallo,
Why dont you give us his date of birth, wife's name and date of birth and a couple of names of children - that way perhaps someone can find them.
There were many William Grants in Caithness !

    Good luck

    Thanks Trinkie
I am new to forums so was not sure just how to word things.
William Grant, 8.7.1821 Married Janet Henderson 22 December 1848. Janet was born in Watten. William had relatives in Watten, this may be how they met. I think Charlesm My Gt Grandfather was his brother.

    1901 census
at 33 Paterson Street Tradeston, Govan Glasgow.
    with the Peter Glen family

    Joseph Grant 28 born Wick
    Boarder
    Police Constable.

Is this him ? I think so. There weren't many ''Joseph Grant '' born in Caithness that year.

I've just noticed Francis is the Grandson of William - so Janet was not his mother ! Sorry. I wonder if Maggie was his mother .

But Janet is no longer on the census records so she must have died.

Thank you I was just about to look for Janet's death. I had worked out from the Census that Francis was a grandson. It is always exciting to find another little bit to add to story.

This is my family, my grandfather was Francis, Alexandrina Grant was my great grandmother and William Grant my great great grandfather who was born in Knockbain Ross & Cromarty. I have lots of information on the family, some of them still living around Wick today. This is very new to me and I am not sure on using this site. My name is Elizabeth Grant Henderson. Please get back to me.
