    Should this little bird be this far north in winter? spotted him feeding in my garden this afternoon.

    Yes it is a yellowhammer, you usually find them feeding at sheep troughs, beautiful birds i have had them picking up the seed under my bird tables.

    Nettie you are so lucky to have this beautiful wee bird come to visit your garden.

    I have only ever seen them when out for a walk in the country.

    Yes it is a yellowhammer but it looks like it is in Summer plumage to me.

    I have had a yellow hammer at my bird table for a while now, I will try and get a photo.
