Thread: Burning music

    Default Burning music

I'm a complete novice and I'm trying to burn some music on to a cd, I've downloaded some tracks, burned them on to a cd (cdR), they are on there as I can play them on my laptop via windows media player but when I tried it in my cd player it won't work, why?

    Thanks in advance!

    Exclamation

Probably the tracks which you downloaded are mp3 files.
They won't play on a normal CD player.

You probably burned the MP3 files as normal computer files onto the disk which is readable fine by a computer but not by a CD player.

You need to burn the disk as an Audio Disk (and not a Data Disk) in the software you are using. If you need to create a new 'project' (as some software apps call it) then select an Audio Disk.

    What software are you using?

Windows Media Player should be able to do it. However I always use CD Burner XP to create audio disks. You can download it free from here. When it starts, select Audio Disk and then simply drag the music files from the top window (which shows files on your computer) to the bottom window (which is the disk). It will then convert them to the correct format. Click the burn icon in the bottom window and it will burn the disk.

There are many MANY applications that will burn disks for you. I use this one (and another) to create disks for me but this one is the easiest to use. If you want to look around, find one you like and stick with it.

Note that even though this is called CD Burner XP it will work under Vista.
