Crane operator

Hugh Simpson (Contractors) Ltd. is the largest crane hire and heavy lifting services company
based in Caithness. A post has arisen for a CRANE AND PLANT OPERATOR to join our team on
a full time basis.

Duties will include driving and operating various size of mobile cranes- rigging crane to the
required configuration and in accordance with the Lift Plan and manufacturer’s instructions
and carrying out other duties as part of lifting operations team that may be assigned by the
Appointed person / Line manager.

Good understanding of regulations and procedures associated with lifting operations is
essential for this position. Our preference is that all applicants have a CSCS mobile crane
operator card and full UK driving licence with C category as a minimum, C+E category would
be beneficial but not essential. However training could be offered to a suitable applicant.

Experience in Slinger/ Signaller role and the ability to operate additional categories of
construction plant would be beneficial, however training and opportunity to upskill will be
given where required.

Please note- the applicant may need to work also on sites out with the county- ability to travel
and work flexible hours including additional hours/ shifts, some weekends as the work load
demands is essential for this post. Applicants should be able to work as part of a team or on
their own as the situation dictates. A sincere care for health and safety towards yourself and
others is essential for this position.

Applicants must have physical strength and fitness to carry out tasks involving manual
handling, working at heights, driving and operating crane and plant.
