You know Corky, it has become a way of life.
No Country is truly A Democracy, no Country is Truly without corruption. Some are worse than others!
It’s the ‘new way’ of life, sad as that is!
HMG's approach to the very many scandals which have surfaced in recent months appears to be not to acknowledge them in the hope that they go away.
They have taken this approach with:- (please feel free to add to the list)
The Dominic Cummings Affair;
Robert Jenrick and the porn king's (Richard Desmond) dodgy planning application;
Stanley Johnson's quarantine dodging trip to Greece;
The Covid 19 PPE procurement mess;
The Huawei debacle;
Russian interference in UK elections;
London being used to launder Russian oligarch's dirty money:
The complicity of those in some of the highest offices in the land in profiting from illegal Russian involvement in the UK.
The approach seems to be working. Already the BBC have moved the various Russian-related scandals down the running order despite the fact that what has been going on is alleged to be wide spread corruption at the highest levels. The other ones in the list all disappeared fairly quickly from the front pages and our TV screens and are now nowhere to be seen. Again these latter scandals are all serious issues which merit proper investigation by both the press and the police. Yet, nothing appears to be happening.
Makes you wonder just how large the web of corruption at the heart of our democracy really is.
You know Corky, it has become a way of life.

+Oh, so that's all right then! We just have to put up with a corrupt "elite" who continually manipulate the system to ensure their interests are always served first whilst the rest of us have to get on with it as best we can. What an appalling indictment of the system. And, this is the system you argue so forcefully for Scotland to remain part of. You actually seem to want Scotland to continue to subject itself to governance by the most corrupt country in the world (see George Monbiot video on another thread). That is not wanting the best for your country.
Even as a dyed in the wool Unionist you surely must be embarrassed by the appalling state the UK is currently in.
Dunno what the context of this thread is, but as the Ignore filter doesn't weed out the thread title, it seems appropriate;
The Orkney seperatist massive out in force, along with the 2 cars that they came in in the background
In the interests of balance:-

Oh dear, it seems that the divisive nationalists have been caught out lying yet again. In the thread "Is it true" (I think I may have broken it posting pictures of the lying divisionists....Sorry Admin!) was a picture on "The National" website showing a junction with a crowd of 3 separatists, and a captions saying that "Demonstrators lined the streets for the Prime Minister's visit to Orkney"
None of us could recognise that junction, so with some detective work on Google Street View, it turns out the picture was taken outside Kinloss Barracks.
Is there no end to the lies and deceit that the seperatists will use to try and perpetuate the myth that there is support for Scexit here in Orkney?

The whole thing has become too Funny!
Such is Politics...good for a laugh!
"Oh dear, it seems that the divisive nationalists have been caught out lying yet again."
The majority of Scots know who the liars are. That might be an explanation why support for the SNP and for Indy is on the rise. We have had enough of Unionist lies.
“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.” (A Lincoln)
Well, its certainly entertaining Horseman when the divisive ones keep shooting themselves in the foot. But whats not so funny, certainly for us here in Orkney, and I guess Caithness as well, is learning that to the southern seperatists, our industries like fishing are simply there to be the butt of jokes. I guess there are no fishing grounds in the southern belt, so such things are of no interest to the seperatists, unless they can be used for taking the urine.
But certainly, reading that southern belters cant tell the difference between Kinloss and Kirkwall, or that 3 is a "crowd" in Orkney is of some amusement.
Ach, we all know who the liars are. I've given up talking to the blinkered unionists on the org.
But isn't it telling that they can say so little about lies from the nationalists and SNP that a misattributed photo in the National is, to a Unionist, taken to be the equivalent of their "vote No or you'll be out of the EU", "Your pensions won't be safe if you don't vote No" , "Don't leave us but lead us", "there are 60 million Turks ready to submerge the country after they join the EU", and " that the country is "extremely well prepared" for coronavirus, for example.
I'd suspect that, like orkneycadian, the folk who put the photos into the articles in the National haven't a scooby about exactly where knots of people waving saltires are standing, unless they have personal knowledge of the place. The photo in question looks to have been taken in Lossie, not Kinloss, btw...and there are better photos. Our MP on TV doesn't appear to know the difference between cheering for Boris and jeering at him,....but then he doesn't know much of anything, so that's no surprise..
I am guessing Oddquine that you have taken me off the ignore list, as you mentioned you had put me on it in http://forum.caithness.org/showthrea...56#post1192456
How do I know? Well, only my postings have mentioned the pictures, the wrong location, Kinloss barracks, etc. I did have to temporarily take Corky Smeek off the ignore list to check that he/she hadn't quoted those words, but he/she hadn't. Now safely back on the ignore list. Unfortunatly, that meant I did have to experience some of the latest drivel he or she has posted. But a couple of Highland Parks later, I think I am over it.
So this raises 2 possibilities;
1. I am no longer on your Ignore list - Well, at least now you will be able to see the voice of reason.
2. Corky Smeek perhaps showed you them? I gather I am not on his ignore list.
Hmmmm, wonder which one it could be......
Anyway, I do beg to differ on the Lossie / Kinloss picture matter. I would post a picture here, but broke a thread this morning doing so - Ooops..... Safer then to just post the link;
https://www.google.com/maps/@57.6394...7i13312!8i6656
Which shows both the junction, and the sign saying "Kinloss Barracks". Hope that clears it up for you.
Hope you get this. If not, just login as Corky Smeek and you'll be able to follow the link.
@ Oddquine. I'll tell you what is telling! That not one of the anti-divisionists on here has even tried to refute the points made in the original post. They know they can't because they also knew the reality of the situation; the UK is spiralling down the plug-hole into oblivion.
At least our side offers a positive vision of the future. All they can offer is fear.
I kinda think many of us are more feart now of decades of English elected incompetent, corrupt Tory Governments, and at least another four years of Dominic Cummings lying through the teeth of our own version of Trump, that independence seems to be the most sensible proposition.
Incompetent and Corrupt!
Urgently needed Health Care money being set aside for Indy.
Huge expenses for ‘entertaining’ Celebrity Guests @ SNP HQ., and paying out for Civil Suits, et cetera.
The list goes on!
Do you...OQ and CS., believe this is the way to go?
Ma Mither used to say...That’s the Pot calling the Kettle black!
I don't think the "and" is quite necessary in that statement Horseman.
Regards the rest of your posting, you are quite right. The behaviour of the seperatists the other day when our Prime Minister came to visit was quite appalling. The handful of people who stood beside the road here were negligable, but the way their media machine tried to portray us here in Orkney was extremely distasteful. There are still fisherfolk seething at having their livliehoods described as "silly", and the National has descended into even more ridicule for posting pictures of 3 protesters in Moray and captioning it as "Crowds in Orkney". NHS Orkney is in crisis like never seen before, on the watch of the SNPs Jeanne Freeman. Now its emerging that the Russians may have tried to "help along" the Scexit referendum in 2014 - As Fulmar states, that was unlikely to be to support the No cause. Scotland making a right haggis of the current flu bug that's allegedly going about. Not 1 but 2 senior health "professionals" caught flouting their own lockdown rules, and both having to leave their jobs.
Yes, you're right Horseman, the list does go on and on (and on and on......)
[QUOTE=Oddquine;1193618]I kinda think many of us are more feart now of decades of English elected incompetent, corrupt Tory Governments,
OrkneyC........Actually I was just quoting OQ in that post.
Perhaps not the best context.......ty
Hot off the Wire....
Major Probs for the Scottish Gov’t! Withholding of documents!
Corky/OddQ.....your reaction please?
I am ‘out of touch and out of Country’!
That's hardly surprising given that 99% of the MSM is as out of touch as you. That 99% are in full attack mode at the present because they have seen the shift in public opinion and are sh*t scared that their usual tactics, of scaring people, are no longer working.
Quite frankly if the SNP discovered a cure for cancer today the headlines tomorrow would be about job losses in oncology wards. If you haven't yet learned that the media in the (dis)United Kingdom will say and do anything to denigrate Scotland and its government then I fear may be little hope for you.
