I hope it doesn't portray an English Galleon like the Caithness flag. It should've been a longship.
After the launch of the Flag of Caithness last year, it seems that the neighbours are jealous (as well they might be). A competition is to be lunched for a county flag for Sutherland, according to the Northern Times.

I see in the Scottie some very negative comments, but I have to say it looks stunning. It is very different from the run of most flags - striking and with local resonance.
