Moon and Mars

This evening, as Mars and our Moon share the same patch of sky

Mystery solved, I was wondering what the planet was.
Sure I read somewhere that tonight sees the largest full moon of the year, I presume it means it will be the closest.

yes it was the closest, and the appearance of mars so close is also an 'event' although mars is not the closest it gets it was still very close and unusually bright, we wont see that again for many years. I didnt think Id get a photo - all the snow and thick clouds almost spoilt it!
