Thanksgiving Thursday
Thanksgiving on Thursday, across the USA
When families gather, to celebrate this day
Roast turkey on the table, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie
Not a day to be on a diet, I cannot tell a lie!
It's an annual tradition, across the fifty states
Fourth Thursday in November, it's always on that date
Like Christmas without the presents, is how it seemed to me
When I came from Bonnie Scotland, my home across the sea!
Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends!
I am living for today, always remembering yesterday, and looking forward to tomorrow!

We went out for Thanksgiving dinner, no kids left at home
Dear old hubby and I didn't want to dine alone
Too far for them to travel, they're living overseas
It's a quiet turkey day, for hubby and for me
So off we went to the Hilton, for a wonderful buffet
It was very impressive, that much I can say
Not only was there turkey, but roast beef and baked ham too
And for those who like seafood, raw oysters and oyster stew
Seated with other 'couples only', turned out to be a treat
Meeting other folk and chatting, was fun and rather neat
The background music was lovely, relaxing jazz so smooth
An instrumental trio, their music sure did sooth!
So after all that eating, it was time to walk it off
A stroll along the esplanade, next to the sand so soft
The day was perfect weather-wise, a sunny, no breeze day
As we walked along by the sea, and looked across the bay
So now we're home, hubby's resting - he's sprawled across the couch
I'd better let him snooze, so he won't become a grouch!
And here I am sipping coffee, with my fingers on the keys
Writing up some poetry, with which I hope to please!
I am living for today, always remembering yesterday, and looking forward to tomorrow!
