    Default Help with task manager

I would like to delete some of the processes in task manager but i dont know what some of them are, how do find which is safe and which is not. If i did delete a lot of these i take it i would get more memory, i like playing farmville in facebook but it keeps coming up low memory usage. Here is some maybe someone can tell me if these would be safe to delete i cant list them all as there are loads. what are these firefox.exe memory usage 55,112k, ashwebSv.exe mem usage 14,648,ashServ.exe mem usage 17,672 this is an example of the larger ones.

There is a complete tweaking guide here:

You could download http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ also and post a log here, someone can thet tell you whats safe to turn off.

Firefox is a/your browser while the two starting with Ash... are parts of the Avast Anti-Virus package. Ending them while you're running the PC is unlikely to do anything other than close an/your internet browser and possibly cause problems with your security (if it lets you close them at all!)

Also simply ending them is only a temporary measure - in order to clear out what's running at startup go you'll either need to use MSConfig / HijackThis / A. N. Other configuration program, or do a bit of manual registry editing (not recommended for the beginner!).

Depending on how much you've got running in the background it may also be a good idea to physically add more memory to the system and/or check your virtual memory settings to ensure they're not set too low.

Like I said post a Hijack This log if you need specifics.

Windows usually ships with about 70% turned on that doesn't need to be. So a lot of it is safe (and more secure) to turn off.

I've managed to get XP down to a 67 MB idle footprint with nothing running but everything still usable.
