    Default Glasgow NE By-election

It looks like Labour wins comfortably, SNP concedes defeat in second place and the BNP may have got third spot. A week certainly is a long time in politics right enough!!
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

Another memorable first for Glasgow North East - the lowest recorded turn out in a Scottish by-election.
IMHO Labour have nothing to be proud of.

It has been well known to most Scots for generations that if you stick a red rosette on a manky corned beef sandwich, Glaswegians will vote for it. Much more concerning is the 33% turnout, which none of the parties should be proud of.
It's a while since my kids left school, but I can't understand, if they're not being taught this at home, why they are not being taught at school about civic responsibility and the duty every citizen has to vote. Maybe casting a vote should be made mandatory.

Or, up here, a Liberal rosette on an empty tweed blazer from Tain
