Thread: Unprepared Wasters!!

    Unhappy Unprepared Wasters!!

Britain is rapidly increasing the amount it consumes from abroad, indeed if the rest of the world consumed like us it would take 3.1 worlds to supply them!

In the 1960's we could have supplied ourselves each year until July.
In 1981 we'd have lasted till May... and now? I doubt we'd last much beyond January!

How are these facts going to help us really be prepared for any terror threat
if airports were cut off we wouldnt need to worry about terrorists we'd be killing each other for food.

Apart from terror threats though that may not happen do these facts make sense?? I think we should look more closely at supplying are own food and provisions and stop wasting so much!

East Midlands airport spends half its time delivering food from abroad for tesco's, when tesco's arrives here Wick airport is bound to have some extra jobs what a waste!

    Default Daft aint it

I never buy vegetables out of season, eat only British produced meat, wear clothes that are produced here and try not to waste water and elctricity.
I see no value in buying fruit/veg that have been jetted 1/2 way round the world merely to supply an artificial need created by the giants of commerce.
Was watching a TV programme tonight that was reporting on gettiing electricity from wave power, it may not be economically viable just yet, but others are latching onto the fact that we need to be self sufficient.
I don't drive a car but I must admit that I am guilty of taking advantage of cheap air fares, but only because I like to be in god's own county as often as possible.
If we all took a look at our life styles and what they are doing to the planet I think we would all blush with shame.
On that note, I'm about to pick up my soap box and head for Speakers Corner!
ERRRR did I notice some of you bagging up rotten tomatoes an' cabbages?

We produce pleanty of food, I don't know if we do enough to make ourselves self sufficient, but we come pretty close. Trouble is we export everything, and import all sorts of rubbish from Europe.

The export market is flourishing because all of our producers can get a better price, that why our farmers couldn't wait until the European market lifted the ban on British meat, they get a better price from the markets in Europe, and really don't give a hoot if we buy it or not since the ban has been lifted.

I am in the process of starting a fruit and veg garden.

Tis is nothing to do with being self sufficient, its just cos they taste better.
